Too Many Threads on the Ice

AHL forward, A.J. Jenks, had this tweet come across my Twitter timeline today:

You may think as owner one of these annoying hockey themed apparel stores that I would be offended.

Nah.

I think I was more offended to be in the same category as puck bunnies. Actually, I take that back as there are some pretty hilarious bunny tweeters out there. Moreover, it is impossible to be upset with Mr. Jenks. He plays for my favorite AHL team (Charlotte Checkers), hails from Detroit (my family’s hometown), and has some of the most amazing hair in the league.

Actually, I should thank the winger. I’ve been suffering from serious writer’s block anxiously awaiting the upcoming season. His tweet got me thinking (dangerous, I know), “Are there too many hockey threads on the ice?” Am I polluting an overpopulated frozen pond?

Nah.

I know I should be aware of every competitor OET has in this apparel world, but frankly, I don’t care. I know of the three or four major hockey lines and like their stuff. I have said it before, but I didn’t go into this as a guy that plays hockey which hopes to get rich off of starting an apparel business. I’m a girl that plays stick and puck on her best day that was tired of the inability to find fantastic ladies and youth hockey apparel. As much as I love Gongshow Gear, I don’t want to buy their, “I’m the Gong, He’s the Show” shirt. I’m not a gong.

I started OET to selfishly wear shirts that I love and to want to give to my nieces and nephews. I also wanted it to be a fun way to donate to charity. So, I will declare I’m not contributing to the overpopulated hockey apparel world. I’m simply existing in my own little world and there’s plenty of room if you want to join the party.

Shirt of the Day: There is no other choice than Just Say Flow when mentioning A.J. Jenks. And Jenksy, we would be honored to send one.
