OET Launches as Underdogs

Logo by Joe Warner of 89 Ideas

On Sunday, June 17th, the Outer Edge Threads website went live after eight months of hard work. I popped about ten anti-acids and prayed to the hockey gods that the world would find my work…nice…yes, I’ll take nice for now, because let’s be honest here…

OET went in as the underdog. I’m not making gear “for the boys, by the boys.” Nope, last time I checked I was definitely a female and I focus more on the ladies of the ice. My company also isn’t based in northern hockey country, rather the good ‘ol south of U.S. of A. Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect when we launched. To add to my stress, I entered OET is a best business social media competition against companies that were already in business and have customers. Do you see why the anti-acids were important? Behind the Design: Fresh Baked

Fresh Baked coming this June. Image by OET

This concept was based on the “Mad Men” marketing style days and thanks to my pal, John Howard, I think it came together quite nicely. This shirt is a salute to those fresh wheels. Plus, it’s like hot coco for your feet when you’re getting it done.

Mr. Howard is a talented graphic artist based out of Charlotte, North Carolina and has been my friend for years. I was thrilled to have him design this line. You must check out his work at www.johnshoward.com.

The shirt will be available in a baby blue mens crewneck and a ladies baby blue v-neck. Both shirts are American made, fashion-fit, and high quality. Read more

Mission Possible: Hockey Trumps Jackhole

WARNING:Read this article at your own risk if you suffer from high blood pressure or Hulk-like temper tendencies.

Outer Edge Threads is thrilled to be a part of the Biz Journals’ Social Madness Competition. Starting today, 43 cities and over 4,000 companies are going head-to-head to earn recognition and a donation to their charity of choice. Approved businesses are categorized into small, medium, and large titles and battle for two weeks utilizing Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. The competition starts at the local level today and will conclude at the national level.

I shared this news with a fellow associate and his reaction made my blood boil…

Me: Hey, did I tell you Outer Edge Threads is participating in the Social Madness Challenge?

Jackhole: Really? Why would you want to do that?

Me: Why wouldn’t I? The timing is perfect with the launch and it certainly can’t hurt.

Jackhole: I just mean it’ll end up being a waste of your time. No one cares about hockey. You won’t make it past the first round.

My Reaction: Tasmanian Devil meets Honey Badger.

My Mission: Prove Jackhole wrong and gloat to obnoxious levels.

OET is the only hockey-related company represented in the first round and we are competing with over 70 small local businesses. Show your hockey pride and vote today and vote often. Share the link with everyone from your coworkers to grandpa.

Voting couldn’t be easier either. Go here. Scroll to Outer Edge Threads. Click vote. You’re done.

Scores are based on votes and social media presence, so please don’t forget to share this link on Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn: http://www.bizjournals.com/triangle/exclusives/socialmadness (There are also convenient social media buttons you can click to follow us if you are not already. Many thanks!)

Mr. Jackhole triggered my stubborn gun and I won’t sleep into we make it out of the first round.
