NHL Election Day: Who Gets Your Vote?

Does Gary Bettman get your vote? I can’t even write that with a straight face. (Photo: AP)

Finally, Election Day is here after months of slanderous political commercials, campaign signs littering every inch of grass, and the occasional funny candidate spoof on Saturday Night Live. What if you went to the polls today and saw Donald Fehr and Gary Bettman on your ballot card? Who would get your vote as the best (of the worst) leader? Perhaps you would like a more generic option, who would you take if the NHLPA was running against the NHL?

Much like the presidential election, the NHL and NHLPA are playing a ruthless game of media wars. Silly boys, the fans have been through this before (more than once unfortunately) and we aren’t buying your sh*t on a stick. I inadvertently made a stick pun (high-fives self). Bikini League prospect, Molly via BikiniHockeyLeague.com

Remember back in May when Cary Eskridge announced he was starting a Bikini Hockey League? If not, catch up here. After a surge of interest, the new ladies league faded away like the latest trend. The only press release on their website was dated May 2nd and Google news shows nothing much after Puck Daddy’s article on May 11th.

Now, the boys of the NHL and NHLPA continued their labor negotiations today. We all know Round One went to the suits, but we are waiting to hear the counter offer. Where’s Harvey Specter when you need him?

So, who will come first this fall…the boys in gear or the babes on blades? Give us your two cents. To entertain you in the meantime, here are the Bikini League prospects.

By the way, we opened our virtual doors one month ago today. The early support has been much appreciated. We have met a lot of cool people and have some exciting things coming down the pipes. Have a cold one with us tonight and give us a shout-out on Twitter and Facebook. Thanks!

Puck by Numbers: The NHL Lockout

Peace, Love, Puck ladies tee available at www.outeredgethreads.com

The pending NHL CBA is the pink elephant in the locker room. The NHL collective bargaining agreement is a contract between the NHL team owners and the NHL Players Association (NHLPA), created through labor-management negotiations of collective bargaining. We all recall the disappointing 2004-05 season and hope not one day of the regular season will be postponed due to these labor agreements. Here are some interesting numbers associated with sports labor agreements…

0 – The number of games the NHL can afford to lose after a record revenue season in my opinion

1 – The amount times the NHL lost an entire season to labor disputes Read more
